Those things get clearer with age, and with a little T.S. Eliot; if I ever had to teach this book it would be in conjunction with "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock". I enjoyed this book the first time I read it, but I was too young and so I didn’t start loving it for awhile because of my contempt for Archer, and the consequent questioning of why Ellen would have fallen in love with him.
